Building horizontally scalable applications can be challenging. If you face the need to rapidly scale or adjust to high load variations, then you are left with little choice. Azure provides a fantastic platform for building elastic applications. Combined with recent advances in browser capabilities, some older architectural patterns have become relevant again. We will dust off one of them, the client-server architecture, and show how we can use its modern incarnation to bypass a class of problems normally encountered with distributed ASP.NET applications.

Zachary Gramana runs an independent software engineering consultancy, Excitabyte LLC, based in St. Augustine, Florida. He started programming back in the 80's, when he started typing in games printed in Compute's Gazette Magazine into his Commodore 64. He has since moved on to other languages and platforms, and now loves code of all shapes and sizes.
